Secret confession #1

And the real reason I haven't posted much this week? I saw the new Star Trek preview at Monsters vs Aliens last Friday, and I said, "I'm there", and basically I'm just waiting for May 8!!! Nothing else matters! I haven't been this excited about a movie coming out in a long, long, long time. ****My husband saw this as I was writing it, and reminded me of The Dark Knight. He said it was a long 3 MONTHS before it came out.****

I am an original Star Trek fan, and had actually ignored the new movie, thinking it would be like the other Next Generation movies - which I did go see, but wasn't excited about. The preview for this one blew me away.

*cautiously pokes head out of closet* Is anyone else out there excited too?

Ummm...don't even get me started. I've been counting the days since they first announced they were making it...hehe. I wasn't too happy when they changed the release date. So no, you are not alone. :)

I'm not a Trekkie, but my son is, and he's really looking forward to this one.

Me too, I'm excited; I'm not a total Star Trek geek - I gave up following the TV series halfway through Voyager - but I've seen several trailers for the movie and have just booked tickets for me and the Book God to see it at the London IMAX on May 10th. It looks fantastic.

Big Star Wars geek here, but also enjoy me some Star Trek. This movie looks like the best thing they've done with the franchise in eons. Going to try an catch a midnight showing on the 7th.

Matthew: You had the poster on your blog that got me curious! lol I couldn't find it online to copy onto my post. Technologically challenged, indeed! 18 days to go..

Becca: my son is as well as me! I'm glad I'm not alone!

bride: I thought you might be!!!My sci-fi friend! :-D and London Imax, I am a little bit envious! *sigh* we walked past Leicester Square where all the movie premieres are, and of course back then it was Australia so no interest to go (despite Hugh Jackman!) ! Wow, good for you, I'm hoping to go midnight May 7 if I can book the day off work. Failing that sometime the 8th, because I don't think I can wait longer than that! lol must be the kid in me that lived of Original Star Trek on tv!

Tasses: welcome! I know, I'm aiming for the show then, but I don't know how realistic it is. sometime on the 8th I'll see it!

I'm super-excited to see this one. I'm hoping they don't completely screw it up by trying to make it something it isn't. I'll see it either way, but I'll be bummed if they aren't true to the spirit of the original series.

I hate waiting for movies... why must they torment us with previews??

Kailana: We'll have to race to see who does the first review! lol

Kim: i know, I've started avoiding the commercials so I don't know too much going in! Same with Wolverine, which is opening next weekend! Man, May 8 is taking FOREVER to get here!! :-D

I've been ignoring the new ST movie too, to be honest, but I'm thinking if it looks that good to you then we'll probably want to see it too. May the 8th? My birthday, funnily enough, but I assume it won't be out in the UK on the same day. Otherwise that might have made quite a nice b/day treat. :-) Thanks for the heads up.

I am pretty darn excited about this as well, despite the fact that I am not thrilled that they decided to go back to the original series (a favorite) for this film. I have decided I just have to leave continuity and love for those characters behind and just enjoy this for what it is. And it does look really cool. We've been planning on a big movie get together since the first trailer was released and I can't wait to see it.

Cath: your birthday, hmm? Mine is later in the month! And now I have to ignore all the tv commercials which seem to show it every ad break. I dont' want to know too much about it before I go in! one week to go!!

Carl: When I saw the young Kirk meet Uhura in tonight's commercial for the movie I almost yelled at the tv! Then I thought, wait a minute, we don't know how they met, or when, just that one day the communications officer went from being a man to being a lovely black woman. Same with Chekhov, he was just there one day....in fact, the early shows had quite a few characters come and go while they decided on the right mix! Is this good or bad that I know the history so well?? Anyway, I am going to go see the movie and praying they don't ruin the secondary characters like Spock's parents too much, or Jim as a young man. I'm curious to see what they do with it, and very much hoping it will be a good story too. And I'm very happy to know that you love the original series too! sometimes i think no one remembers it, that Next Generation is all anyone talks about. We'll have to see who does the first review, you or me! LOL!
