I am long overdue for a book post here. Today though, I am posting the above you tube link, because it is hilarious, and exactly what every one of us over here in Ottawa, Ontario and Canada are feeling this morning. On a morning when it was -18c, -28c in the wind,
again, with fresh snow on the ground, and more to come tomorrow, Rick
Mercer has found a way to make me laugh. So, enjoy, and I will be back
when I am not in such a grumpy mood over our never-ending winter.
By the way, for those not familiar with our comedians, Rick Mercer is one of Canada's best-known and beloved comedians and commentators. He has a weekly half-hour show (The Rick Mercer Report), where he explores some part of Canadian life, does wry, witty commercials like the one above, and has his political rant for the week. The Weather Network is also one of the most popular channels on tv in Canada, and everyone watches it to see what the weather is going to be like. We do often joke that the 7 day look ahead forecast changes hourly!!!

Very funny Susan. We're enjoying a few days of sunshine after what feels like decades of rain!
Hilarious!
I probably shouldn't mention how beautiful it is here at the moment...
We haven't had the cold but we have had torrential rain and damaging winds fro week after week after week. So, when they started to forecast sun at the end of last week, I think we all felt like that couple. Fortunately for us, our forecasters were right.
Where did you find this little gem? Just when I couldn't take this awful weather anymore, good ol' Mercer springs forth to vent on my behalf!
I'm still rooting for that plus 1!
That was really funny! :)
Made me laugh at the bit about toothpaste and soap - I ran out of dental floss during the Devon floods and kept thinking I couldn't Amazon it in case the delivery couldn't get through :-)
The scary thing is, it's absolutely TRUE! As soon as the temp crawls up anywhere close to 0 (on the underside) we get all excited.
Bride of the Book God: Thanks! I know you've gotten lots of rain, all our snow weather moves across the Atlantic and dumps it as rain on you! they have been quite some storms this year for all of us, haven't they?
Cath: thanks! I'm glad you and Bride could get the humour! :-D
Alex: You have had such terrible storms this winter. I said to Bride above, I've been watching the weather systems (once long ago I wanted to be the weather girl!) and once they leave the Atlantic coast, they make their way across the Atlantic to Britain. So you get all that snow as rain. It's been a hard winter for everyone, I think.
Patricia: I am still rooting for that plus one! we won't even reach it tomorrow! :-( I can't tell you how depressed that makes me feel. It's March 24! Nor the snow we got yesterday (Sat) during the day. Toby almost refused to shovel, except it's not going to melt until next weekend sometime....glad it could cheer you up. This gem still makes me laugh!!
Eva: thank you!!
Geranium Cat: the sad thing is, the longer it goes on being so cold, the harder it gets to want to take clothes off long enough to shower! Plus you think, oh well, it's so cold, who cares....and as the snow and cold still continue this week, that plus one is still in our forecast! :-)
Your floods have been bad though. Glad you are getting spring, though it's making my husband more cranky when he sees no snow over there, and we have piles of it here for him to shovel.
Susan D: I know! I'm excited about this Thursday, it's supposed to warm up! and the nights too, not -20 c starting next Thursday! First we have to get through the next few days *sigh*
This is hilarious! I think we're finally finished with freezing temps here in Nebraska, but you never know. We've had snow in May in previous years...
We are trying to pretend spring is coming, but woke up to the weather forecast of possible snow again on Friday! Like you, we can have snow until the end of April, so mostly we just hope for warm temperatures to melt it as soon as it falls :-D Glad you enjoyed the video, it still makes everyone in my family laugh when we hear +1 in the forecast!
