problems leaving comments on wordpress blogs

I have been trying to leave comments on several book blogs that I love visiting, but wordpress is not letting me leaving comments.  I can write them, but they don't end up on the post.  Does anyone have any suggestion for what I can do?  Is anyone else having this problem?

Yes me, Susan. For weeks over Christmas and in January every comment I left on a Wordpress blog disappeared. I even made a rather irate post about it on my blog, I was so annoyed. Seems Wordpress was putting my comments in people's spam boxes, which is probably what's happening to yours. I had to tell each person separately and ask them to 'rescue' my comments. Rather embarrassing and annoying. It did seem that once my comments were accepted with each blog, the problem ceased almost as though some kind of block was lifted.

And now it seems to be happening with Typepad. I left a comment on somone's blog last night and that just disappeared. I'm starting to get a persecution complex. LOL!

I had the same problem half a year ago. I was really irritated! I had to post though to participate in a read-a-long, so I learned to copy my comment before pressing "print" and then trying again the next day with a couple of symbols changed. Usually the next day everything was fine.

Now though the subscription on WP doesn't work for me. It doesn't send me the confirmation email, is all. I'm wondering, why WP hates us so much?

They're probably getting sent to spam/moderation, and if the blog owner knows about it, they're able to fix it quickly. And once it's fixed, it should remain fixed (on that blog, at least), like Cath said. If my blog is one of the problems (not that I post very often, so probably not ...), let me know, and I'll gladly fix it!

Yes, they were in my spam box, Susan, but I check it regularly just because this happens so often and I want to make sure I don't miss anything important. If it's any consolation it can be just as difficult for a non blogspotter to leave comments on blog spot sites.

Cath: Thank you so much, Cath! I was wondering if it was something like that. It's never been this bad for me before, maybe the odd blog here and there...now it's very wordpress blog. I'll email those, then.

Ugh to it happening to Typepad too. I also have it with personal blogs (you know, where their name is part of the web address), no matter which blogger space they have gone with.

Ekaterina: That's interesting, that the next day it would take your comment like that. I've looked the next day, and tried, and still no luck. I think WP and blogspot are in competition of some kind....which is stupid, since it makes people work harder to communicate, or they go away from blogging entirely! Thank you so much for help, too.

Word Lily: I think yours is one of the blogs now, funnily enough. I'll let the blog owners now. Thanks!!

Alex: Thank you so much! And yes, occasionally (rarely now) I get a notification that they can't leave one, but it happened more a few years ago. Thanks for rescuing my comments, Alex!

Oh yes... you're right. Carl's blog is a personal address and I couldn't comment on his and had to contact him via FB. Honestly, it about drove me nuts, so I can really feel for you.

I get so much spam on my blog I have ceased to check it when I empty the 100+ from my spam folder every day so I fear any comments you left there have been blasted away :( Now that I know I will start trying to skim through my spam folder before consigning it all to oblivion every morning.

Stefanie: nooo! lol I'll try to remember what I wrote for your posts. That's terrible, that much spam, though.

Cath: I haven't tried leaving a comment on Carl's blog yet, I am working my way through my blogroll list to catch up with everyone. I'll remember that about his, I think I have it somewhere. I wonder what happened to make it so difficult to leave a comment on so many different sites? Something changed at Christmas or just before, I never had this problem before. I'm discovering it's quite a few blogs too that won't accept my comments when they did before. It's hard to feel a little paranoid when this happens, isn't it?

Thanks for your email, Susan! Though I'm sorry you had to go through the hassle. :( Your comments were sent to spam, but hopefully it's now fixed.

Debi: Thank you! It's so many blogs now, I don't know if somehow I've done something to my settings. Blogspot blogs are stopping me now! Grrr. Just when I am enjoying blog-hopping again...I will come visit your blog cause I have one of the books you liked last week, and will share what I think :-) thanks to your post! lol
